Hoosiers Lose Overtime Thriller to Michigan State, 3-2

COLLEGE PARK, Md.— Indiana Field Hockey begun their Big Ten Tournament Journey on Friday afternoon at Maryland, facing No. 9 seeded Michigan State. The Hoosiers received high production on offense but it was enough as they fell to the Spartans, 3-2 in overtime.
KEY MOMENTS
• The first goal of the game was scored by senior Claire Woods to give the Hoosiers the early lead, 1-0.
• Michigan State would find the equalizer in the 44th minute of action.
• Kelsey Giese helped Indiana regain the lead with a goal off of penalty corner. Captains, Nora Aucker and Taylor Swope we're awarded the assist.
• The Spartans stayed on the attack that created an opportunity to make the game 2-2 late in the second half.
• Two minutes into overtime Michigan State sealed the victory with a goal off a penalty corner.
NOTABLES
• Woods' goal on the opening minutes of action was her second goal of the season and sixth in her career.
• Kelsey Giese recorded six shots on the afternoon, which is the most by any Hoosier this season.
• Five different Hoosiers had shots on the afternoon.
• Sachi Ananias tied her season high saves as she stopped eight Michigan State shots throughout the afternoon.
• Ananias also recorded a season high in minutes with 72:57.
