"Well, we are lucky. Sometimes we talk about winning ugly and sometimes you have to be just lucky to win a game. Give Miami a tremendous amount of credit. I thought they challenged us in every way, sped us up and obviously made it a game when you think you're 12 points up you look up and you're only up by one. Give Katie (Meier) and her staff and her kids just lot of credit for the way they battled back and never stopped fighting to stay in the game and to win it. I'm really proud of our kids for finding a way, you can pick a lot of categories tonight; turning the ball over the way we did and missing free throws the way that we did. It was a frustrating evening I think for all of us. I credit that to Miami. I thought they sped us up offensively but then turned around and somehow managed to speed us up defensively in a weird kind of way just doing some uncharacteristic like things on the defensive end. I'm happy that we're walking out with here with a win, but realize there's certainly a whole bunch we can take from this game and a whole lot that we have to be better at by next week."

KEY MOMENTS
- The first quarter ended on 9-2 run by the Hoosiers (5-1) who took a six-point edge behind graduate student guard Ali Patberg's seven points.
- IU's defense would go on to hold the Hurricanes (4-2) off the board until the 6:06 mark in the second quarter as it built what would be its largest lead of the game of 15 points.
- But Miami would chip away at the deficit, trimming the lead to just six, 32-26, at the break as Indiana went the final 3:49 without a field goal.
- In the third, IU got just six field goal attempts off and went 4-for-6 but scored just nine points as it saw its lead dwindle down to just one, 39-38. A Holmes lay-in pushed the lead back to three going in to the fourth.
- The lead continued to grow and pushed to as many as 12 with 5:02 to play but the Hoosiers didn't hit a single field goal for the remainder of the game. As Miami pulled within one with 48 seconds to go, Patberg missed a 3-point attempt but a huge offensive rebound from Holmes kept possession. Holmes would hit one in the bonus as a 3-pointer from the Hurricanes was off the mark as time expired.
NOTABLE
- Holmes led IU with 14 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. It also marked the ninth career double-double for the junior forward.
- She was one of four in double figures joined by Patberg's 13 points and 11 points each from Berger and Gulbe.
- Berger also added seven rebounds and three assists.
- Indiana won the battle on the boards, 43-28.
- Gulbe led the way with two steals.
