Indiana Softball to Welcome 1983 Women’s College World Series Team Back for Michigan Series

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– The Indiana Softball team is hosting an alumni weekend for its 1983 Women's College World Series team.
The weekend will place special emphasis on recognizing the 1983 team for Saturday's game against Michigan at 2 p.m. at Andy Mohr Field.
The recognition celebration will feature first pitches from members of the team and a ring ceremony postgame will be conducted to present them with their College World Series rings.
Legendary head coach Gayle Blevins and ten of the 14 players from the team will be in attendance.
The 1983 team posted a 45-20-1 record en route to their College World Series appearance. They also won the 1983 Big Ten Championship, the first in program history, and won the NCAA Mideast Regional in that season.
Lynne Beck and Terry DeLuca of the team were both recognized with national accolades. Beck earned NFCA All-Region honors while DeLuca was recognized as an NCAA First Team All-American.
Blevins was the head coach at Indiana from 1980-1987 where she led Indiana to three College World Series appearances (1980, 1983, 1986).
She won the 1986 National and Regional Coach of the Year. Blevins was inducted into the Softball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Indiana Hall of Fame in 2005.
