Sadie Canelli Named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana sophomore Sadie Canelli was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Canelli earned the distinction for her outstanding play in the team's wins at No. 10 Maryland and Penn State this weekend.
The Hoosiers defeated Maryland in a shootout on Friday, 2-1, and then defeated Penn State, 3-1, on Sunday.
In addition to limiting each team to one goal, Canelli also did not allow a single Maryland player to score in the shootout. Her clutch play in the cage gave Indiana a 2-0 advantage in the penalty shootout to earn the win.
The entire weekly honors slate is as follows:
Offensive: Ashley Sessa (#4), Jr., F, Northwestern
Co-Defensive: Sadie Canelli (#26), So., GK, Indiana
Co-Defensive: Lyra Gavino (#1), Jr., GK, Michigan State
Freshman: Juliana Boon (#77), R-Fr., GK, Northwestern
