ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman outside hitter Jaidyn Jager is starting to play her best ball of the season as the month of November begins. Following a phenomenal weekend out east, Jager was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Nov. 3) for the second time this season. It's the fourth weekly honor that IU has earned this season from the conference office.

Jager was instrumental in a pair of sweeps against Maryland and No. 19 Penn State. She averaged 4.00 kills per set and 4.17 digs per set while recording a double-double in each contest. On the weekend, Jager hit .360 with 24 kills to just six attacking errors. She also had a career-high 13 digs in the victory over Maryland.

The Carlsbad, California native has a nose for the big matches and proved that once again on Sunday. She helped lead IU to its first road win over Penn State in program history. In the final set, she turned up the pressure with eight kills and three digs as IU picked up its third win of the season over a top-25 team.

After an uncharacteristic passing weekend against Minnesota, Jager has quickly found her footing in reception once again. She passed 35 balls in two matches this weekend at an elite 2.40 clip on a 3.00-point scale. She had a 68.7 percent good pass rating to allow IU's offense to flow at a high level.

Jager continues to stake her claim as a candidate for the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award. She's one of three conference freshmen (Malayah Long, Michigan State and Reese Messer, USC) to earn multiple Big Ten Freshman of the Week nods. She's averaging 3.42 kills per set and 2.25 digs per set and has been the best all-around freshman in the league. IU hasn't won a Big Ten Freshman of the Year honor since 1989 (Sheri Stout).

IU continues its 2025 season on Friday (Nov. 7) against Iowa. The Hoosiers need just one more win to record their seventh 10-win Big Ten campaign in program history. They are two victories away from the seventh 20-win season in team history.
