
Indiana Falls Short At No. 22/21 Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Indiana tried to rally late in the fourth quarter but ultimately came up short in a 73-63 loss at No. 22/21 Michigan State on Sunday afternoon.

KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana's (17-10, 9-7 B1G) lead was as many as seven in the first, but Michigan State (20-7, 10-6 B1G) staged its own 12-0 run to go up 15-15-10 after the first 10 minutes.
- Junior guard Yarden Garzon hit a left side 3-pointer while Striplin completed the and-1 at the line early in the second to get Indiana back on top. But the lead was brief as another Spartan run, a 12-2 edge, gave them a nine-point lead with 5:25 remaining.
- Back-to-back buckets from Striplin and graduate student guard Sydney Parrish helped IU come within five, but MSU's Tarryn Hallock beat the buzzer at the rim to pushed IU's halftime deficit to eight, 32-24.
- Neither team shot well in the third, but the Spartans would lead by double-digits for a majority of the period. Moore-McNeil's made bucket made it a nine-point deficit with 4:21 to go. The Hoosiers, however, scored just one field goal in the remainder of the quarter and fell behind by as many as 15 in the early goings of the fourth.
- Sparked by a 10-0 run late in the fourth, junior guard Shay Ciezki had five of IU's 10 points as a Parrish 3-pointer pulled it within four, 59-55, with 3:45 to go.
- Michigan State countered with timely 3-pointers including one at the 1:42 mark to bring its lead back to double-digits.
NOTABLES
- Moore-McNeil recorded her third career double-double with 15 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. She also added three assists to the stat sheet.
- Three others scored in double figures along with Moore-McNeil with as Striplin chipped in 14 points on a 5-for-9 effort from the floor and 13 points each from Ciezki and Garzon.
- Thet two teams tied on the glass, both grabbing 36 rebounds.
- Ciezki led the way with four steals, which set a season-high and tied her collegiate career-high.
- Garzon added two triples in the game, moving up into sole possession of third place all-time in career 3-pointers made. She is three shy of tying Kris McGrade's 31-year old record of 206 made 3-pointers from 1991-94.
