
No. 17 Hoosiers Upset No. 8 UC Davis In Kalbus Invitational Finale

IRVINE, Calif. – Senior Skylar Kidd and junior Louisa Downes both had four goals as No. 17 Indiana capped off the weekend on high-note in a Top 10 victory over No. 8 UC Davis, 15-14, in overtime at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational 11th place game.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Hoosiers battled from down a pair of goals in the first quarter as Kidd got Indiana on the board with 2:33 to go. The Aggies tacked on two more goals to close the frame while Kidd scored again for IU early in the second.
- Kidd recorded her hat trick before another teammate scored as she brought the game back within two, 5-3, with 6:13 left on the clock.
- Second quarter note
- In the third, senior Portia Sasser tied the game up on a penalty goal just 31 seconds into the second half. It was part of a four-goal effort by IU to build a 9-8 edge.
- Downes fired off a shot less than a minute into the fourth that gave Indiana a 10-8 lead. The Aggies came back late in the frame and converted with nine seconds left to force overtime.
- Indiana went up first in the first overtime, with Downes connecting on the powerplay. UC Davis tied the game up again with just nine seconds to go heading to the second extra period.
- Junior Grace Klingler put IU up early in the second overtime and UCD would score with 16 ticks remaining, but Indiana got the last chance as senior Sophia Sollie netted her third goal of the day with a second remaining.
NOTES
- The Hoosiers have now knocked off a Top 10 team for the second-straight season as it also defeated then No. 8 Princeton in 2024.
- It also marked the first win for IU in the series with the Aggies since 2020, which was also an overtime win (12-11).
- Kidd and Downes led the way with four goals each while senior Sophia Sollie added three.
- Sophomore goalie Audrey Cox made a career-high 12 saves in the overtime win and also had one assist.
- Junior goalie Jasmine Higgs saw action in the first half, adding five saves, three steals and two assists.
- Klingler had a game and career-high five assists.
