BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Thirty-three members of the Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving programs have qualified for the 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships following the conclusion of NCAA Zone Diving Championships this week.
The Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, will host both the women's and men's meets over the next two weeks. The women's meet will run March 19-22, a week before the men compete from March 26-29.
The Indiana men are coming off a blowout Big Ten Championship, winning its fourth straight conference title by a record 531-point margin of victory. The Hoosier men have finished fourth nationally the last two seasons and within the top five the last six. In the last six years, only four men's team have consistently finished top six nationally: Cal, Texas, Florida and Indiana. IU's mixture of accomplished seniors, high-powered transfers and talented youngsters have the Hoosiers looking up the leaderboard this year.
The women kick things off next Wednesday looking for another program record finish. The last two years, IU has finished seventh at the national meet – the women's highest historical mark. A senior-laden class will look to break through and make history again.
On the men's swimming side, Indiana has 11 top-10 seeds. Junior Owen McDonald comes in as the No. 2 seed in the 200 IM, No. 3 in the 200-yard backstroke and No. 4 in the 400 IM. Leading a loaded breaststroke contingent – IU has seven swimmers entered between the two breaststroke events – senior Josh Matheny ranks No. 4 in the 200 breast and No. 9 in the 100 breast. Versatile senior Luke Barr ranks No. 5 in the 200 IM, No. 13 in the 100 back and No. 16 in the 100 breast.
Indiana returns its entire diving squad that scored 121 points at the men's championships a year ago. Seniors Carson Tyler – a three-time NCAA Champion – and Quinn Henninger and junior Max Weinrich are qualified on all three boards and will welcome junior Dash Glasberg to this 2025 group on 1-meter and platform. In total, IU will bring 19 men's athletes to championships.
Indiana's women's roster includes 14 athletes – 10 swimmers, four divers. The Hoosier women boast nine top-10 seeds, highlighted by senior Anna Peplowski's top seed in the 200-yard freestyle. She also ranks fifth in the 500 free and ninth in the 100 free. Sophomore transfer Miranda Grana ranks No. 6 in the 100 fly, No. 7 in the 200 back and No. 9 in the 100 back.
