3/28/2025 7:27:00 PM | Men's Swimming and Diving
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The day after senior Quinn Henninger's inaugural national title on the 1-meter springboard, Indiana swimming and diving will look to win its third-straight NCAA title on the 3-meter board, placing three of the top four qualifiers in the event.
Indiana will use diving and breaststroke to its advantage on Friday (March 28), day three of the 2025 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships inside the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The Hoosiers have six in championship finals, eight more in consolation heats and the No. 4-seeded 400-yard medley relay.
Two-time reigning champion Carson Tyler led the way in the prelim with a score of 443.20, followed closely by Henninger's 420.90. The senior pairing medaled together the previous two years and finished first and second a year ago. Junior Maxwell Weinrich qualified in fourth with a 396.05 to make his first-career NCAA 3-meter championship final.
As expected, Indiana advanced six swimmers between the two finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, including top qualifier and senior Finn Brooks and No. 3 qualifier and graduate transfer Caspar Corbeau. Senior Luke Barr, grad transfer Brian Benzing and seniors Jassen Yep and Josh Matheny all entered the B final with times that would have qualified for the championship heat a year ago.
Brooks qualified in two finals Friday, also making the consolation final in the 100-yard butterfly with a 10th-best 44.62.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Big Ten Champion and junior Owen McDonald's season best 44.31 finished sixth best in the prelim. McDonald medaled in the 200 IM Thursday night and will look to break into the top three spots with another final swim Friday night.
