Indiana Defeats Saint Louis in Elimination Game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –––– No. 3 Seed Indiana edged No. 4 Seed Saint Louis, 4-2, in Saturday's first elimination game at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.
The win gives Indiana the opportunity to play No. 2 Seed Oklahoma State again tonight for another elimination game. The winner will make the regional final tomorrow against host and No. 1 Arkansas.
Indiana is now 34-19 on the season.

KEY MOMENTS
• Brianna Copeland got off to a commanding start in the circle, throwing two strikeouts in a three-up, three-down inning in the top of the first.
• Avery Parker got Indiana on the board with a double off the left center field wall to score Taylor Minnick and make it 1-0.
• Aly VanBrandt bunted for a single and then Parker scored on the play, advancing on an error to bring the lead to 2-0.
• Saint Louis scored on a bases loaded walk when Karsen Jany walked in to make it 2-1 in the top of the third.
• Indiana's defense halted any Saint Louis momentum in the top of the fourth with a 3-6-4 double play to end the inning. The play was executed by Josie Bird, Madalyn Strader and VanBrandt.
• Taylor Minnick laced a line drive single to right field in the bottom of the fifth and scored both Josie Bird and Melina Wilkison on the play to extend Indiana's lead to 4-1.
• Saint Louis' Abby Mallo hit a home run over the right field fence to make it a 4-2 game in the top of the sixth inning.
