Hanley Hamed Male Scholar Student Athlete of Month

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On top of one of the best freshman campaigns in program history, first baseman Jake Hanley proved to be the true embodiment of a student-athlete with his outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2024-25 school year. He was named the June Male Scholar Student Athlete of the Month.

Hanley, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2025, led all freshman players in the Big Ten in hits (73), runs scored (48), home runs (14) and RBIs (52). He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection. He completed the entire season without making an error while starting all 56 games this year.

In addition to his on-field performance, Hanley thrived in his first year in the college classroom. He has the highest cumulative GPA of any undergraduate student in the baseball program (3.7) and maintained a 3.50+ GPA during the spring semester.

Hanley is working on his degree in the prestigious Kelley School of Business. He is set to head off to play summer baseball before returning to campus in August to begin his sophomore campaign.
