BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Volleyball team put a bow on the 2024-25 academic year on Monday (July 21) afternoon. The Hoosiers were one of 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams from across the country to take home the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award Sponsored by INTENT.
The yearly academic award is handed out to volleyball programs that maintain a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. IU continued its run of academic success under head coach Steve Aird. The Hoosiers worked a semester GPA of 3.644 during the spring and a cumulative GPA of 3.419 during the 2024-25 academic calendar.
Nine different IU players were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team in the fall, led by graduate student Delaynie Maple who maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. Maple, seniors Kenzie Daffinee and Carly Mills and sophomore Luca Fickell were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars following the conclusion of the school year.
It's the fourth time in the last six years that the Hoosiers have taken home the AVCA Team Academic award. On top of academic success, IU has won 52 games on the hardwood in the last three seasons. Led by returning seniors Avry Tatum, Candela Alonso-Corcelles and Madi Sell, the Hoosiers begin the 2025 campaign in just over a month.
