Indiana Basketball Game Notes – Exhibition 1 at Butler

Opening Tip
• The Indiana Hoosiers will begin the 2026-27 season with an exhibition contest at the Butler Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 11. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Will Haskett (PxP) and former Hoosier Joey Brunk (Analyst) will handle the WISH-TV broadcast.
• Butler is under the direction of first-year collegiate head coach Ronald Nored, who spent 11 seasons on the sidelines of the National Basketball Association. He spent time with five NBA franchises, including the Atlanta Hawks (2023-26), Indiana Pacers (2021-23), Charlotte Hornets (2018-21), Brooklyn Nets (2016-18), and Boston Celtics (2013-15).
• The Bulldogs underwent complete roster turnover and returned just one player that saw action in more than 20 games a season ago in fourth-year senior center Drayton Jones. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per outing as a starter for all 32 games played.
• Nored and staff brought in a five-player transfer class, headlined by third-year guard Eduardo Klafke (Ole Miss), third-year junior forward Treyson Anderson (North Dakota State), and second-year forward Samis Calderon (Kansas).

During that time, he's called more than 2,200 games, four NCAA Men's Basketball Championship games, and a CFP championship run. He's been honored as the National Sports Media Association's Indiana Sportscaster of the Year 32 times, and was awarded the prestigious National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Chris Schenkel Award. He also received the Indiana University Bicentennial Award in 2019 in recognition for his enormous contributions to Indiana University and IU Athletics and was named a Living Legend of Indiana in 2026. He was inducted into the IU Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2022.

• Fourth-year guard Markus Burton, a transfer from Notre Dame, was twice named an All-ACC performer. He averaged 19.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals in 33.2 minutes per game in 69 career games with the Irish.
• The Mishawaka, Ind., native scored double figures in 63 career games, topped the 20-point barrier 33 times, and scored 30-plus points in four contests. He has averaged 19.7 points and 3.7 assists per game in his last seven games against ranked opponents (six away from home).
• Among current high-major guards listed at 6'0 or shorter, Burton ranks second in career points (1,315), third in assists (259), and third in steals (123).

• Third-year forward Aiden Sherrell, a highly touted transfer from Alabama, has appeared in 70 collegiate games, seven coming in the NCAA Tournament, in two seasons for the Tide.
• A 2024 McDonald's All-American, Sherrell averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in 23.9 minutes per game and knocked down 27 3-pointers in 34 starts as a second-year player.
• Over the last two seasons of high-major college basketball, eight players have blocked at least eight shots in a single game. Sherrell is joined by Zuby Ejiofor (St. John's) and Ugonna Onyenso (Virginia) as the only three players with multiple such games.
• Sherrell was the only player in men's Division I basketball to collect at least 75 blocked shots and make at least 25 3-pointers during the 2025-26 season.
