Eleven Hoosiers in Major League Soccer as 2026 Season Starts

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The 2026 Major League Soccer season kicks off Saturday (Feb. 21), and 11 Hoosiers are ready to help their clubs push for domestic titles.
Winner of MLS Save of the Year in 2023 and 2025, goalkeeper Roman Celentano is set to star in his fifth professional season for FC Cincinnati while also aiming to land a spot on the U.S. Men's National Team World Cup roster. FCC head coach Pat Noonan also begins his fifth season leading the club. During their partnership, Cincinnati has compiled an 88-42-45 record over the previous four seasons.
An ninth-year MLS veteran, defender Griffin Dorsey, will wear a new uniform for the 2026 season after a transfer to Orlando City SC from Houston Dynamo FC worth up to $1.2 million. Dorsey had a career year for Houston in 2025, earning career-highs in games played (33), starts (29), minutes played (2,666) and assists (6).
Andrew Gutman also begins his ninth season in the league and third at his hometown club, Chicago Fire FC. Like his former IU teammate in Dorsey, Gutman also recorded career-high production in 2025 in games played and started (34), minutes played (2,869), assists (10) and G/A (13). Gutman's 2,869 minutes played ranked No. 23 in MLS and No. 2 for Chicago.
Gutman and Dorsey were two of the five Hoosiers to eclipse 2,000 minutes in MLS last season – they were joined by Celentano (2,700), Nashville defender Jack Maher (2,572) and Sporting KC rookie Jansen Miller (2,304).
The San Jose Earthquakes defender just missed that season milestone with 1,991 minutes played after earning more starts late into his third season. San Jose rewarded him in October with a contract extension through 2028 with an option for 2029.
Samuel Sarver looks forward to his first full season as a member of FC Dallas' first team after earning a first-team contract during his first professional season in 2025. Sarver was the MLS NEXT Pro Most Valuable Player in 2025 for North Texas SC after breaking the club's single-season scoring record (19 goals).
