BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana redshirt senior guard Lamar Wilkerson was named All-Big Ten Second Team by the league's coaches and Third Team by select media members, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilkerson is the first Hoosier since Kel'el Ware (Third Team in 2024) to be voted All-Big Ten. Trayce Jackson-Davis (2022) was the last IU player to be named to the conference's second team.
The veteran guard averaged 21.0 points per game, the second-highest figure in the B1G. Wilkerson is on track to be the first player since Brian Evans (1995-96) to average 21.0-plus points in a season for Indiana. He added 3.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steal per outing. Wilkerson shot 46.4% (220-of-474) from the floor, 38.3% (103-of-269) from the 3-point line, and 89.3% (109-of-122) from the free throw line.
The Ashdown, Ark., native is one of four players nationally to average north of 20.0 points and at least 3.0 made 3-pointers per game this season.
Wilkerson made 103 shots behind the arc during the regular season, the second most in program history. He trails only Steve Alford's total of 107 during the 1986-87 campaign. His free throw percentage of 89.3% is on pace to finish third in program history for players with more than 100 made free throws in a single season.
He upped his averaged to 23.2 points per game in Big Ten Conference play, the ninth-highest average in program history and the most points per contest in league games since George McGinnis (29.9) during the 1970-71 season. Wilkerson (464 points) broke the program record for points scored in a single season of Big Ten Conference play set by Don Schlundt (459) during the 1952-53 season.
The Sam Houston State transfer scored 15-plus points in 17 conference games, netted at least 20 points 11 times, added a 32-point night against Nebraska (Jan. 10), posted 33 points at USC (Feb. 3), exploded for 41 points against Oregon (Feb. 9), and went for a career-best 44 points against Penn State (Dec. 9).
Indiana will begin postseason play in the second round of the 2026 Big Ten Tournament. The 10th-seeded Hoosiers will play the winner of 15-seed Northwestern and 18-seed Penn State at 6:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 11, at the United Center in Chicago.
