Indiana Concludes Opening Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana closed its opening weekend of racing at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational with the third of three sessions Sunday (March 15) on Lake Melton in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
IU faced off against Alabama and Louisville on Sunday and finished as runner-up in four of the five races. While the Crimson Tide won each race, Indiana earned a 4-2 head-to-head record against the Cardinal crews.
Indiana's Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight went 3-3 on the week. The V8 won its first race of the season Saturday morning, beating North Carolina by half a second and Notre Dame by 13 seconds. IU's top boat closed the weekend with a runner-up finish, 4.6 seconds behind Alabama and 15 seconds ahead of Louisville.

Indiana will remain in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, for its Spring Break Training Trop before returning to action with a scrimmage versus Tennessee and Iowa March 21. IU's next competitive regatta is set for April 3-4 in Columbus, Ohio, where it will face host Ohio State, Harvard, UCF and North Carolina.
