ATLANTA – Three Indiana athletes advanced to finals, and five Hoosiers clinched point-scoring positions during Thursday's (March 19) preliminary session at the 2026 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships inside the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. IU will also swim the 200-yard freestyle relay as the No. 6-seeded team.
Freshman Alex Shackell and junior Miranda Grana both advanced to the 100-yard butterfly final. Shackell placed third in the morning, tying her program record 49.95. Grana posted a 50.68 to qualify in seventh.
Freshman Liberty Clark cruised to a 1:41.29 in the 200-yard freestyle, good for the No. 3 seed in the final. Clark will look to replicate or improve upon her 1:39.70 800 free relay leadoff split which made her the third-fastest woman all-time in the 200 free. Classmate Grace Hoeper posted a personal best in the prelim with a 1:43.93, placing 23rd.
Junior Reese Tiltmann came into the meet ranked No. 30 in the 400 IM but improved her personal best time by 1.6 seconds to finish 16th and earn her first-career All-American honor. Tiltmann's 4:06.02 ranks No. 4 in program history.
In the first diving event of the meet, junior Ella Roselli earned points out of 12th place. Roselli and classmate Lily Witte, who placed 27th, will return on the 3-meter springboard Friday.
