Jacob Moran Takes Sixth Place as Hoosiers Finish Out at NCAAs

CLEVELAND, Ohio ––– With Session V of the NCAA Championships in the books, Indiana Wrestling's time at the 2026 National Tournament is also done.

Jacob Moran was the lone Hoosier competing on Saturday (March 21) morning when he took sixth place at 125 lbs.

Moran started the day with a consolation semifinal match against No. 7 Nico Provo (Stanford). Moran nearly scored a takedown on an early shot in the first period, but it was ruled out of bounds. After that, Provo capitalized on a first and third period takedown to take an 8-1 decision.

In the fifth place match against No. 5 Troy Spratley (Oklahoma State), Spratley got in on two first period takedowns before winning the match by fall (4:11). With the loss, Moran finished the tournament in sixth place.

Moran's sixth place finish was the highest placing Hoosier since 2016 when Nate Jackson took fifth place at 174 lbs.

Indiana finished the tournament with 19.5 points and is locked into a 21^st place finish in the team race. That was the best team finish since 2010 when Indiana took 21^st place as well and had 26.0 points.
