Hoosiers Fall to No. 39 Michigan 4-1 to Close Regular Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 55 Indiana men's tennis team dropped its final match of the regular season Sunday to No. 39 Michigan, 4-1.
Michigan took the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Indiana's No. 39-ranked duo of Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu defeated No. 52 Max Dahlin and Pierce Shaya 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Bjorn Swenson and Alex Cairo defeated Jip van Assendelft and Facundo Yunis 6-3, and Mert Oral and Nicholas Steiglehner handed No. 54 Braeden Gelletich and Sam Landau their first loss as a doubles team this season, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles. Gelletich and Landau finish the season 8-1 as a pair.
In singles, Michigan won matches at Nos. 1, 2, and 4 singles, with Indiana's lone point coming from singles No. 5, where Aidan Atwood defeated Pierce Shaya, 6-3, 4-1, by default. For Michigan, No. 45 Bjorn Swenson defeated Jip van Assendelft 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2; No. 6 Max Dahlin defeated Sam Landau at No. 1; and Nicholas Steiglehner clinched the match for Michigan, defeating Facundo Yunis 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4.
Indiana closes the regular season with a 10-12 overall record and a 4-9 Big Ten record. The Hoosiers will next compete in the Big Ten Tournament.
