Indiana V8, 3V8 Post Winning Weekends in Columbus

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana rowing's Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight crews concluded winning weekends with head-to-head victories in their races on Saturday (April 4), the final day of the Ohio State Regatta on the Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio.
IU's V8 improved to 2-1 on the weekend in Saturday morning's two-boat race, outpacing No. 13-ranked Harvard-Radcliffe. Indiana's top boat finished with a four-second margin over the Harvard crew, finishing with a time of 6:25.4. The Varsity Eight beat two ranked opponents on the weekend between Harvard-Radcliffe and Friday's head-to-head win over No. 19 North Carolina.
Indiana's 3V8 replicated its Friday finish, placing second to UNC but ahead of No. 20 Ohio State and Harvard-Radcliffe to improve its weekend record to 4-2. IU's time of 7:07.5 finished 13 seconds ahead of the Buckeye boat (7:18.5), which won in photo finish over the Harvard crew (7:18.9).
Indiana has three crucial regattas over four weeks ahead leading up to the Big Ten Championships. The Hoosiers will host No. 2-ranked Texas next Thursday (April 9) as well as 17th annual Dale England Cup on May 2. In between, IU will test its mettle with some of the best crews in the country at the Big Ten Invitational in Sacramento, California, April 18-19.
