Indiana Defeats Washington, Advances to Big Ten Tournament Semifinals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. ––– No. 4 Seed Indiana handled No. 5 Seed Washington in Thursday's (May 7) Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal, winning 9-2 at Maryland Softball Stadium to advance to the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals.
The Hoosiers are now 42-13 on the year and have won six games in row.

KEY MOMENTS
• The first inning went by quickly on both ends as it was a 1-2-3 inning in the top and bottom of the first.
• Washington had the bases loaded in the top of the second with one out, but via a flyout to left and Ella Troutt's first strikeout of the day got the Hoosiers out of the frame with no damage done.
• With two outs in the bottom of the second, Indiana's bats clutched up as Ellie Goins doubled before a Brooke Mannon single to right field scored her to put Indiana up 1-0.
• The Hoosiers extended the lead in the bottom of the third when Aly VanBrandt launched a ball over the right field wall for a 2-run home run to increase the lead to 3-0.
• Washington got on the board when Alexis DeBoer hit a single to center field to score two runs in the top of the fifth and make it a 3-2 game.
