Briana Schomaeker is in her 14th season with the Indiana Women’s Basketball program in 2026-27.
In her role, she oversees team travel, summer camps and is the liaison to a number of external units within athletics including academics, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, community service and sport nutrition. She is also part of the Student Diversity roundtable committee and lead contact between IU for their involvement with Team IMPACT, a national organization that partners children with serious and chronic illness with college athletic teams.
Schomaeker spent three years as the assistant to the director of operations after earning her master’s degree in sports administration from Indiana in 2013. She has also held the title of Director of Player Development before moving over to her current title in 2024-25.
She played collegiately at Tennessee for legendary head coach Pat Summitt from 2008-12 and earned her degree in sport management with a minor in business in 2012. She appeared in 118 games during her career in Knoxville and was part of three SEC Championships (2010, 2011, 2013), two Elite Eight runs (2011, 2012) and a Sweet Sixteen appearance (2010). She was also named to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll three times.
A 2008 graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis, Schomaeker led the Panthers to an Indiana 4A state title as she was named an Indiana State All-Star and IBCA All-State Team as a senior. In addition, she was a 2008 Miss Indiana Basketball candidate and a three-time Hoosier Basketball Magazine three times (2006, 2007, 2008). She earned three all-conference selections at North Central where she was also a two-time all-county, all-metro and all-state honors.
Schomaeker (nee Bass) married her husband Justin in the summer of 2018. They have sons, Garrett and Jeremiah.
