BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior Corey Brautigam scored her second overtime game-winning goal this season at the 74th minute as the Indiana field hockey team topped Iowa, 2-1, in OT, for its first Big Ten win of the season on Friday, Oct. 15 at the IU Hockey Field in Bloomington. Senior Lena Grote scored the first goal for the Hoosiers (8-5, 1-3) in the 12th minute.
Grote's goal was scored on a corner as she put in a shot taken by redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood. The Hawkeyes (3-10, 0-4) claimed the equalizer in the 39th minute as Jessica Barnett scored on a corner. Brautigam netted the game-winner as she rebounded off a shot by Fleetwood.
Fleetwood led Indiana with three shots, one on goal, and two assists. Grote scored one goal on one shot and Brautigam scored one goal on one shot. Redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi also tallied two shots, one on goal.
Junior Becky Pany started in the cage for the Hoosiers and recorded seven saves in 73:20. Redshirt freshman Hannah Boyer recorded her first defensive save of the season.
Iowa outshot Indiana, 14-8, and earned 10 corners to the Hoosiers' six.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 17, as it plays host to Villanova at 12 p.m. ET, in its Pink Out game. The Hoosiers encourage fans to wear to pink to the game in support of breast cancer research.
