EVANSTON, Ill. - The Indiana field hockey team topped UC Davis, 1-0, in Evanston, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 9. Sophomore Shareyna Chang scored the lone Hoosier goal in the 43rd minute.
After going scoreless for the first 43 minutes of the game, Chang scored on the rebound off a shot by freshman Mariella Grote to give the Hoosiers (7-5) a 1-0 lead. The Aggies (3-7) pushed hard in the latter half of the second half of the game, but Indiana's defense maintained control and held on for the 1-0 win.
Chang led IU with one goal on five shots, while redshirt sophomore Brenna Moeljadi tallied five shots, three on goal. Redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood recorded three shots, one on goal. Junior Becky Pany played 70 minutes in goal and tallied four saves.
IU outshot UC Davis, 17-7, and earned 12 corners to the Aggies, three.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Oct. 15, when they host Iowa at 3:30 p.m. ET on the IU Hockey Field.
