
Hoosiers Beat Bucknell, 2-1, on Penalty Strokes

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Indiana field hockey team defeated Bucknell, 2-1, on penalty strokes after playing to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Sunday, Sept. 26. The Hoosiers (5-3) beat the Bison, 7-6, in a stroke-off for the victory.
After falling behind, 1-0, at the 38th minute when Bucknell's Rachel Miscko scored for the Bison (3-6), senior Lena Grote scored on an assist from redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood to even the score at 1-1 at the 57:11 mark.
The Hoosiers and Bison stayed at 1-1 through two overtimes leading to a stroke-off. IU and Bucknell matched on each attempt until the Hoosiers' seventh attempt, when freshman Emily Bowker made the stroke past the Bison's Sarah Zargarpour. Bucknell's Morgan Kauffman missed on her final attempt to give Indiana the win.
Fleetwood led the Hoosiers on shots with five, three on goal, and added an assist. Redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi took three shots, two on goal, while sophomore Shareyna Chang took three shots, all on goal. Grote took two shots for one goal on the game.
Junior Becky Pany started in goal for the Hoosiers and tallied eight saves in 100:00 minutes. On the weekend, Pany totaled 19 saves after registering a career-high 11 at Penn State on Friday, Sept. 24.
The Hoosiers outshot the Bison, 20-17, however Bucknell earned 17 penalty corners to IU's nine.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 2, when it hosts No. 6 Ohio State at the IU Hockey Field at 1 p.m. ET in Bloomington. Saturday's game will be a Big Ten Network broadcast with it showing tape-delayed on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. ET.
