
Hoosiers Topple No. 8 Louisville, 3-2, in OT

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team topped No. 8 Louisville, 3-2, in overtime, on Tuesday, Oct. 5 on the IU Hockey Field. The Hoosiers (6-4) had two goals from redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi, one in the first half at the 12-minute mark and again at the 70th minute to send the game into overtime. Junior Corey Brautigam scored the game-winner at the 81st minute to give IU the 3-2 victory.
Moeljadi put the Hoosiers on the board early in the first half as she scored off a penalty corner to give IU a 1-0 lead at the 12th minute in the game. Senior Kelsey Kiper and junior Kristy McFadden picked up the assists on the goal. The Hoosiers maintained a 1-0 lead through the first half and part of the way through the second half until the Cardinals (8-4) answered with an unassisted goal from Amber Thomas at the 57th minute. Just two minutes later, Thomas put Louisville ahead, 2-1, as she scored off of a deflection on a shot that was taken by Tuli Kim off a penalty corner. However, Moeljadi sent the game into OT as she scored her second goal of the game at the 70th minute on a penalty corner to knot the score at 2-2. Kiper and McFadden picked up assists on the second goal.
In overtime, Brautigam netted the game-winner at the 81:19 mark as she dribbled the ball in and past Louisville's keeper for the 3-2 win.
Moeljadi led the Hoosiers with two goals on three shots. Redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood also tallied three shots, two on goal. Brautigam scored one goal on two shots, while sophomore Shareyna Chang took one shot on goal. Kiper and McFadden each tallied two assists apiece. Senior Alex Mann played 81:19 minutes in goal and recorded 11 saves.
Louisville outshot Indiana, 19-10, on the game and earned 10 penalty corners to the Hoosiers' five.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Evanston to take on Northwestern at 4 p.m. ET, before facing UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 9 in Evanston at 1 p.m. ET.
