
Hoosiers Fall at Northwestern, 4-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Indiana field hockey team fell at Northwestern, 4-2, on Friday, Oct. 8, in Evanston. Senior Kelsey Kiper scored the Hoosiers (6-5, 0-3) first goal, at the 45th minute and redshirt junior Brenna Moeljadi scored IU's second goal at the 68th minute.
The Wildcats (10-4, 2-0) got on the board in the 11th minute as Chelsea Armstrong scored on a goal. Nearly three minutes later, that 1-0 lead became a 2-0 advantage as Armstrong scored again. Indiana cut the lead in half at the 45th minute as Kiper tipped in a shot from Moeljadi to make it a 2-1 game. However, Northwestern netted two more goals to increase their edge to 4-1. Moeljadi cut the lead in half at the 68th minute as she scored off a penalty corner, taking a pass from redshirt sophomore Morgan Fleetwood, but it wasn't enough as Northwestern ended up with the 4-2 victory.
Fleetwood led IU with two shots on goal to go with her assist, while Moeljadi recorded one goal on one shot and added an assist. Kiper scored one goal on one shot. Junior Becky Pany played all 70 minutes in the cage and tallied 11 saves.
Northwestern outshot Indiana, 21-4, and earned 14 penalty corners to IU's four.
The Hoosiers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9, when they face UC Davis at 1 p.m. ET in Evanston.
