Testing the Terps
Indiana played one of the best games of their 2015 season last Friday in a road matchup against the No. 6 Maryland Terrapins. The Hoosier defense held off a vaunted Maryland attack for the full 70 minutes of regulation, which featured 16 saves by freshman keeper Noëlle Rother (T-2nd in IU history). The Hoosiers dominated the beginning of the overtime period, but fell 1-0 to the Terrapins from a counter-attack goal.
Overtime at American
Indiana played their second overtime contest of the weekend last Sunday at American University. Indiana trailed 2-0 at the start of the second half, but rallied with three unanswered scores by Kate Barber, Taylor Pearson, and Claire Woods. American tied the game at 3-3 on an untimed penalty corner in the closing seconds to force overtime, then scored the game-winner in the second overtime period.
Rutgers Recon
Indiana wraps up their Big Ten schedule this weekend against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Hoosiers are 0-4 all time against the Scarlet Knights, their last meeting being a 2-1 loss in Piscataway. The Hoosier defense will face a tough Rutgers offense, led by senior forward Nicole Imbracio (11 goals, three assists).
Superb Seniors
This game against Rutgers will also serve as Senior Recognition Day for the Hoosiers. Indiana will honor the collegiate careers of four senior players on Friday: Karen Lorite, Rachel Stauffer, Sydney Supica, and Nicole Volgraf. These four seniors totaled 36 wins in their four years with the Hoosiers, combining for 58 goals, 22 assists, seven athletic honors, and 11 academic honors. The Hoosiers will also recognize the hard work and dedication displayed by their senior student managers, Jennifer List and Sean Ndebele.
Supica: One More Game at Home
Indiana senior defender Sydney Supica earned the opportunity to play one more collegiate field hockey game in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Mich. Supica was selected to take part in the Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Saturday, November 21. Supica is one of 38 field hockey seniors from all of Division I field hockey selected for this honor.
