#IUWBB Game 15 Preview: at #5 Ohio State

THE OPENING TIP
Indiana will hit the road to take on No. 5/5 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio at Value City Arena on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. The game can be heard on the state-wide IU Radio Network with Greg Murray on the call. The contest will also be available to watch on BTN Plus.
DID YOU KNOW?
• Thursday's matchup against Ohio State will be the only time that the Hoosiers and Buckeyes will face each other during the 2015-16 regular season.
• The last time Indiana visited Columbus, OSU outlasted the Hoosiers winning by a 78-70 margin on Feb. 8, 2015.

COMEBACK KIDS
Four times this season, Indiana has faced late second-half deficits before overcoming them to earn a victory.
• Jan. 3 vs. Michigan: IU trailed by nine with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter, five Hoosiers scored as part of a 12-0 Indiana run to take a 61-58 lead late in regulation. Michigan's Katelynn Flaherty hit a 3-point field goal to force OT before IU outscored the Wolverines 16-8 in the extra period. Indiana scored 12 of its OT points from the free throw line, including the last 10. The Hoosiers outscored Michigan 28-11 in the game's final 10:48.
• Dec. 11 vs. Samford: The Hoosiers trailed by 11 with 4:00 left in the third quarter. IU went on a 17-2 run over a span of 3:56, scoring 13-straight during the stretch to take a four-point lead. In overtime, Indiana outscored Samford 13-4, thanks in part to an 8-0 run by Amanda Cahill by herself to start the OT period.
• Dec. 2 vs. Georgia Tech: Indiana trailed by five with 8:36 to play in the game. IU outscored GT 20-6 in the final 6:37 and held the Yellow Jackets scoreless for the final 4:05 of the game.
• Nov. 17 vs. then-No. 24 Chattanooga: IU trailed by four with 1:44 left in the third quarter and was behind heading into the fourth quarter. Indiana outscored the Mocs 19-6 in fourth quarter to take the win.
REBOUNDS = Ws
Indiana outrebounded Michigan 43-35 in the thrilling OT victory in Assembly Hall on Jan. 3. It marked the seventh time this season that the Hoosiers had outrebounded an opponent. IU is currently 6-1 in games in which it outrebounds its foe as Indiana picked up other wins winning that category against Tennessee State, Chattanooga, at IPFW, Samford and Yale.
GET ON THE BUSS
Tyra Buss ranks 28th in the country and fourth in the Big Ten in points scored (269) and sits 36th nationally in scoring average (19.2 ppg), and sixth in the conference in that category. Buss has scored in double figures in every game this season and in 18-straight games dating back to last season. She currently leads Indiana in scoring, assists (3.9 apg) and steals (1.9 spg) while playing 36.6 minutes per game (2nd in B1G) and a Big Ten best 512 minutes total.
Buss currently ranks fourth in the country and leads the Big Ten in free throws made (94). She also paces the conference in free throws attempted (121) to rank third nationally in that category while shooting 77.7 percent from the line.
Buss has scored 20 or more points in seven games this year. Buss was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Florida Sunshine Classic after tallying 28 points against then-No. 23/21 Miami and 23 points vs. West Virginia. During IU's two games in Orlando, Buss shot 15-of-19 from the field (51.7 percent), 5-of-9 from 3-point range (55.6 percent) and 16-of-19 from the charity stripe (84.2 percent).
CLIMBING TO THE CA-HILL TOP
Amanda Cahill recorded double-doubles in consecutive games last week and just missed making it a third straight in the win over Michigan last time out. Cahill has three double-doubles on the season and nine in her career. Against the Wolverines, Cahill scored a team-high 19 points with nine rebounds to go along with a season-high four blocks while shooting 6-of-9 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. She had her double-double outings in a win over Yale on Dec. 28 (12 points, 10 rebounds) and at Wisconsin (13 points, 11 rebounds).
Cahill has been efficient this season for the Hoosiers, shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 40.0 percent (T-11th in B1G) from 3-point range while averaging 13.6 points (T-25th) and a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per game (8th) with 1.5 steals per contest. Cahill has had six games this year where she has shot 66.7 percent or better, three contests where she hit 71.4 percent or better from the field.
Cahill has scored in double figures in 12 games this year, including the last seven consecutively, and has had seven or more rebounds in every game but three. She was one of six players named to the All-Preseason WNIT Team at the conclusion of the tournament on Nov. 22. Cahill scored in double figures in all three games for the Hoosiers in the tournament and led IU in rebounding in every contest.
HIT THE GASSION PEDAL
Junior Alexis Gassion has scored in double figures in each of the last six games and led the Hoosiers with 19 points vs. Yale on Dec. 28. For the year, Gassion is averaging 12.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as she has scored in double figures 11 times, including seven of the last eight games.
Against No. 23/21 Miami on Dec. 20, Gassion tallied 19 points with a season-high three steals while nailing a career-high tying eight field goals. She also accomplished a double-double against Samford on Dec. 11 with 13 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
ROAD WARRIORS
Indiana's two road games this week will end a stretch where the Hoosiers will have played 10 out of 14 contests away from Bloomington. Indiana begins Big Ten play with three of the first four contests on the road and four of the first six.
For the first time since 2008, Indiana played four-consecutive games away from Bloomington early this year. The Hoosiers were sent to DePaul in Chicago for the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT on Nov. 19 and played at IPFW on Nov. 24. IU then played a pair of games in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. on Nov. 27-28.
