146 Hoosiers Earn Spring/At Large Academic All-Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – 146 IU students who participate in intercollegiate athletics across 10 sports earned Spring/At Large Academic All-Big Ten recognition, the Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday.
With the completion of the academic year the Hoosiers had 350 Academic All-Big Ten honorees across fall, winter and spring sports. This represents a school record for most Academic All-Big Ten honorees over that period. The previous best was 328 in the 2020-21 school year.
"Congratulations to our 146 spring sport student-athletes who performed at the highest levels in the classroom and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors," said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson. "This group teams up with our fall and winter sport students to give IU Athletics a record 350 Academic All-Big Ten honorees during the 2021-22 academic year. This remarkable accomplishment speaks to the tremendous efforts of not only our students, but our Academic Support staff led by Senior Associate Athletic Director Lorian Price. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done."
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
The conference office also awards Academic All-Big Ten distinction in the spring seasons and will present the Distinguished Scholar Award at the end of the academic year.
Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must be a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year, excluding any summer grades. The Academic All-Big Ten threshold is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for a student's academic career.
