Indiana Men's Tennis Wrap Up Play at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The Indiana Men's Tennis team wrapped up its first tournament of the fall season at the ITA All-American Championships, with five players competing in singles play and the senior duo of Sam Landau and Michael Andre leading the way in doubles.
Landau and Andre highlighted the Hoosiers' showing, advancing to the qualifying round after back-to-back wins in pre-qualifying. The pair defeated Brendan Boland and Marino Jakic (Arkansas) in straight sets before taking down Oklahoma State's Nicholas Heng and Joseph Phillips in another two-set win. Their run ended in the qualifying draw against Penn's duo of Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler, falling in a tight 7-5, 6-7 (3), 12-10 battle.
In singles, Sam Landau, ranked No. 71 nationally, advanced to the Round of 32 with a straight-set win over LSU's Andrej Loncarevic before dropping his next match to No. 106 Duncan Chan (TCU). Senior Michael Andre claimed a gritty three-set victory over Mississippi State's Michal Novansky but was forced to withdraw from his Round of 128 match due to injury.
Freshman Facundo Yunis also impressed in his All-American debut, earning a straight-set victory over Duke's Saahith Jayaraman in the opening round before falling in a three-set battle to Wisconsin's Edouard Aubert.
Jip van Assendelft and Ben Pomeranets rounded out Indiana's singles action, each competing in the Round of 256. Pomeranets bounced back in consolation play to defeat DePaul's Alejandro Gandini in straight sets.
