Indiana to Head East for Big Ten Matchups with Maryland and Penn State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana Field Hockey is set for a weekend road trip to the east coast. The Hoosiers are scheduled to take on No. 10 Maryland on Friday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. in College Park and Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. in University Park.
WEEKEND REWIND
• The Hoosiers fell to the Scarlet Knights, 4-0, on Friday, Oct. 10 at Deborah Tobias Field.
• Seven Hoosiers recorded a shot, including Georgia Rottinghaus, Molly Stutte, Charlotte Glasper, Mijntje Hagen, Celia Arroyo Cabezudo, Javia Baeza and Inés Garcia Prado.
• IU came up short against Miami in a Monday contest in Oxford, Ohio, 3-2.
• Theresa Ricci and Hannah Riddle each slotted one goal in the game.
BACK TO B1G PLAY
• Friday's game against Maryland will be Indiana's fourth Big Ten conference game and fourth consecutive conference game against a ranked opponent (No. 11 Iowa, No. 1 Northwestern and No. 14 Rutgers).
• Mijntje Hagen is tied for sixth in points with 18 on the season. Charlotte Glasper stands at eighth with 17 points and Inés Garcia Prado rounds out the top ten with 16 points.
• Celia Arroyo Cabezudo is tied at sixth in the Big Ten in scoring with six goals.
• Hagen and Garcia Prado are tied at third in assists with eighth. Glasper's seven assists places her at fourth in the conference.
• Garcia Prado's 35 shots puts her at seventh in the conference in shots.
• Garcia Prado has notched four defensive saves, placing her second in the Big Ten.
CONNECTIONS TO HOME
• The weekend out east brings many Hoosiers home while bringing others connections to home both stateside and abroad.
• Six Hoosiers will return to their home states this weekend, inducing Morgan Qualls (Maryland), Ava Winner (Maryland), Georgia Rottinghaus (Pennsylvania), Anna Mozeleski (Pennsylvania), Theresa Ricci (Pennsylvania) and Kai Killian (Pennsylvania).
• Head coach Kayla Bashore and assistant Leah Zellner are both Pennsylvania natives.
• Indiana's Rylee Brooks-Booth, Maryland's Callie Rogers and Penn State's Joji Purdy, Cooper Cutchins and Mia Clarkson are all from Virginia.
• Oceania will be represented by IU's Emma Thompson (New Zealand), Maryland's Maia Adamson (Australia) and Penn State's Lara Pyle (Australia).
• IU's Lily Freeman (England) and Elen Nicholls (Wales) will represent the United Kingdom along with Maryland's Ericka Morris-Adams (England).
• Nine athletes will represent the Netherlands throughout the weekend. Those include Keke Sluiter (Indiana), Kiki Oomens (Indiana), Mijntje Hagen (Indiana), Annemijn Klijnhout (Maryland), Feliz Kuhne (Maryland), Djuna Eikelboom (Maryland), Fleur Knopert (Maryland), Ella Jennes (Penn State) and Anouk Knuvers (Penn State).

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
• The Hoosiers will travel east to take on No. 10 Maryland on Friday, Oct. 17 and Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 19 for their fourth and fifth Big Ten matchups of the year.
• This will be Indiana's sixth ranked matchup of the 2025 season (No. 8 Boston College, No. 11 Iowa, No. 1 Northwestern, No. 14 Rutgers and No. 18 Miami).
• The Maryland Terrapins stand at 8-4. Maryland has a 2-0 win over Michigan State and defeated No. 10 Iowa 2-0, Big Ten opponents.
• Jordyn Hollamon leads the Terrapins in goals with six on the season.
• This will be the 13th all-time matchup between Indiana and Maryland. Maryland leads the all-time series 12-0. The last time these two teams played was in 2024. Maryland recorded the win at Deborah Tobias Field.
• The Nittany Lions' record stands at 5-7. Penn State fell to Ohio State 2-0 and to Northwestern 4-0 last weekend.
• Josephine Purdy leads the squad with four goals on the season.
• This will be the 32nd all-time matchup between Indiana and Penn State. The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series 27-4. Indiana and Penn State last played in 2024. The Hoosiers lost the game 3-2 at University Park.
OVERTIME TIDBITS
• Indiana's Inés Garcia Prado, Emma Thompson and Mijntje Hagen were named to the Big Ten's preseason Players to Watch list.
• Senior Emma Thompson, a captain in 2024, is once again a team captain in 2025. Junior Inés Garcia Prado was voted in as a team captain for the Hoosiers as well.
• Indiana's roster bolsters a former high school duo who are once again playing together at the collegiate level. Javi Baeza and Charlotte Glasper played together at Shaker Heights High School (Ohio).
• The Hoosiers further their international talent, expanding the number of countries represented on the team. Lily Freeman and Elen Nicholls came to Bloomington from England while Keke Sluiter, Kiki Oomens and Mijntje Hagen travelled from the Netherlands. Emma Thompson is from New Zealand. Both Celia Arroyo Cabezudo and Inés Garcia Prado represent Spain in Bloomington.
