Meet Central: IUTF Opens Season with Early Bird Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana track and field program will open their regular season hosting the Indiana Early Bird Meet in Bloomington, Ind. The meet is set to take place on Friday, December 12 from Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The Hoosiers will compete against 11 teams over the weekend including Butler, Cincinnati, IU East, Lincoln, Marian, Maryville, McKendree, Pikeville, Saint Louis, St. Norbert, and Southern Indiana competing across 36 events. The day's competition will begin at noon with the men's and women's pentathlons.
Indiana has entered 70 athletes in a combined 30 events on the men's and women's side with several athletes making their collegiate debuts

THE HOOSIER LINEUP
Combined:
James Burnett and Xavier Alston will be competing in their first pentathlons with the Hoosiers, along with returner Max Grangier.
On the women's side, Ell Knepp will lead the charge for freshmen Madi Kramer and Chayla Rankin.
Sprints and Hurdles:
Several Hoosiers will be making their debuts on the track, including Elia Blackmore in the 60-meter hurdles. Tyler Tarter will represent the Hoosiers on the men's side.
Symone Adams, Aliyah Johnson, and Lyric Steele are set to compete in the women's 60-meter sprint. They will be followed by newcomers Jasiah Rogers and Marcus Townsend in the men's prelims.
Junior Kristina Vincic sophomore Lyric Steele will run in the women's 200-meter run along with Novo Onovwerosuoke and Townsend on the men's side.
Several Hoosiers will be competing in the 300m including Trelee Banks-Rose, Tamer Saleh, Antonio Smith, and Christian Woodson on the Men's side. Kiera Davis, Johnson, Omema Anyanwu, and Kylee Poulton will look to handle things in the women's races.
Kate Henselmeier will lead freshmen Kaselle Davis and Ava Olomajeye in the women's 400m races, followed by Daquan Tate, Cameron Mullens, and Kalen Sargent on the men's side.
Distance & Mid-Distance:
Starting the mid-distance competition, Freshman D'Angelo. Brown will be the sole Hoosier in the men's 600-meter race. The women's side will consist of Amelia Dodds, Veronica Hargrave, Nola Somers Glenn, Ciara Kepner, and Kai Snell.
Michaela Quinn, Catie McCabe and Joey Rastrelli make up the Hoosiers in the women's 800 meter competition. The men's race will include returners Nico Colchico, Andrew Mangum, Aidan Lord, and Matt Kim.
There will be plenty of Hoosier representation in the mile, with Mangum, Satterfield, Colchico, and Cole Raymond running on the men's side. They will follow Jessica Hegedus, Ava Jarrell, and Ellia Hayes in the women's race.
Sic Hoosiers will be competing in the men's 3,000-meter run, including Abe Eckman, Aidan Lord, Liam Bauschke, Sam Quagliaroli, Matt Kim, ad Caden Click. Runners. Maddie Rocchio and Alayna Todnem will be competing on the women's side.
Jumps:
In the High jump, freshman Jay Hmurovich will be the sole Hoosier on the men's side, along with Kaselle Davis, Josie Page, and Taylor Schoonveld in the women's competition.
Returners Kelly Moran and Vince Davero will both be competing in the long jump and triple jump events. Alex Smith will also join Davero in the long jump.
Pole Vault:
Peyton McQuinn will lead the way in the men's pole vault, while Kailen Kramer and Isabel German make their debuts for the cream and crimson.
Throws:
Seth Brosseau and Caleb Smith will both be competing in the shot put throw for Indiana.
Sophomore Hannah Alexander looks to improve on her freshman season as she will compete in the hammer throw. Hunter Smith, Nikolaos Sidirenios, Brosseasu and Dane Sebert will also be competing on the men's side.
Relays:
The Hoosiers will have four relays competing in the 4x400m on Friday, including three women's and one men's quartets.
