Indiana Track and Field Complete Day Two of Split Weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. – Indiana track and field concluded their competition in the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track and competed in the first day of events of The Battle on the Bayou at Bernie Moore Stadium on Friday (March 28).
"It was great to get back on the track and compete against some good competition," said head coach Ed Beathea.
"Sean Mockler in the hammer throw and Trelee Banks in the 200-meter had good openers. I'm looking forward to day two (in the Battle on the Bayou)."
In Baton Rouge, the day started in the cage when Hannah Alexander recorded the 15th best mark in school history for the hammer throw. Sean Mockler (65.65m/215-04) started his outdoor season finishing fourth on the men's side.
Three Hoosiers saw personal bests in the Javelin, each finishing in the top 10 in the event. Dalton Boisseau (59.58m/195-05) placed third overall and was followed by Max Grangier (53.16m/174-05) in fifth and Garrett Messer (49.63m/162-10) in sixth.
Vince Davero continued the Hoosiers' success in the field, placing fifth overall (7.38m/24-2.5) in the men's long jump.
On the track, the hurdlers wasted no time in the 400-meter hurdles, as Jania Hodges (59.40) and Ryann Parrish (1:01.32) each earned top 10 times among Big Ten runners at the time. Tyler Tarter (52.25) took second place, followed by John Colquitt (53.57) in fourth on the men's side.
Trelee Banks-Rose continued from his indoor success by tying his personal best (20.80) in the 200-meter dash.
Martin Segurola (3:44.16) earned the Hoosiers their first event win of the weekend in the men's 1,500 meter.
In the Raleigh Relays, Katelyn Winton set a new personal best in the women's 5k with a time of 16:33.22.
Mariah Wehrle recorded the third fastest time in program history in the women's 10k, running a 33:24.04 in the invitational.
