No. 16 Rowing Set for Big Ten Championships in Indianapolis
5/16/2025 10:00:00 AM | Women's Rowing
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 16-ranked Indiana rowing will compete close to home at the 2025 Big Ten Rowing Championships Saturday and Sunday (May 17-18) at the Indianapolis Rowing Center on the Eagle Creek Reservoir.
Fans can stream the regatta via the B1G+ digital platform or follow live results at HereNow.com.
Previously a one-day event, this year's championship regatta expands to two days to welcome conference newcomers UCLA, USC and Washington. The top three finishers in each of Saturday's two heats (per boat) will advance to Sunday's Grand Final; the remaining five will race in the Petite Final.
"We're excited," IU head rowing coach Steve Peterson said. "This is a culmination of our year every year, and I think we're lucky to be part of arguably the best conference in the country. And adding the west coast schools only makes it that much more competitive, which makes it that much more exciting.
"We're telling our athletes all the time leading up to this: you've trained all year long, you've worked hard, you've come together as a crew. To have an event like this that's really going to challenge you, you either put everything out there and do your best or not. I think that's very rewarding."
"We're excited for the new challenges that come with heats and finals," senior Phoebe Inall added. "It's been an amazing season so far, and there have been a lot of challenges, but we've overcome them, and we're excited to lay it all out there this weekend."
Indiana is one of six Big Ten programs ranked in the CRCA national poll. The Hoosiers currently sit behind Washington (2), Rutgers (7), Michigan (10) and in front of Ohio State (17) and USC (23).
At the 2024 championships, Indiana earned a program record second-place finish while collecting its best-ever medal count. The Varsity Eight and Novice Eight each earned silver medals, while the Second Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Four were third-place finishers.
