BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer improved to an unbeaten 2-0-1 record Thursday (Aug. 28) night despite facing deficits of 2-0, 2-0 and 1-0 in its first three matches. Two second-half goals drowned Green Bay (0-2-0) in a 2-1 result on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Despite outshooting the Phoenix 12-3 in the first half, the Hoosiers trailed at the break via a Green Bay goal scored in the second minute. Indiana responded with two goals in 31 seconds between the 56th and 57th minutes as sophomore Michael Nesci and senior Palmer Ault converted to give IU its third consecutive comeback victory.
KEY MOMENTS
• 2' – GOAL! Green Bay senior forward Chris Album steered a header perfectly to the back post from 12 yards out, giving graduate goalkeeper Holden Brown no chance to save it. Green Bay 1, Indiana 0
• 5' – Indiana nearly had the equalizer in three minutes with three headed attempts towards goal from a corner kick – one that hit the post and another that the keeper saved.
• 23' – Junior forward Collins Oduro was the post's next victim, as he rifled a shot from 19 yards into the woodwork. Indiana went into the break with a 12-3 shots deficit, forcing a save with half of those attempts, but trailing on the scoreboard.
• 56' – GOAL! Sustained pressure gave Indiana its goals. A deflected Ault shot fell to junior Jacopo Fedrizzi, who gave it back to Ault at the top of the box. Ault passed wide to Nesci, who was storming the six-yard box from the wing, and the sophomore's shot deflected off the keeper's left hand and over the line. Indiana 1, Green Bay 1
• 57' – GOAL! Great dribbling inside the box gave Ault a one-on-one chance with the keeper, though at a tight angle. The senior drove it towards goal, and a defender's deflection made sure it crossed the line. Indiana 2, Green Bay 1
