Hoosiers & Scarlet Knights to Face Off at Andy Mohr Field

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Coming into the weekend on a three-game winning streak, Indiana Softball is set to host Rutgers this weekend (March 13-15) for its next Big Ten series at Andy Mohr Field.
Both teams are 2-1 in the Big Ten with Indiana posting a 19-5 season record while Rutgers is 13-10.

QUICK HITTERS:
- In its first four home games of the season, Indiana turned in a 3-1 showing, earning a Big Ten series win over Minnesota, taking two of three against the Golden Gophers and also picked up a 14-6 (F/6) run rule win over Loyola Chicago.
- Aly VanBrandt had another incredible performance in the team's midweek game against Loyola Chicago (March 10). VanBrandt tied program single-game records of three home runs and seven RBI in the win.
- Indiana is in the midst of eight-straight home games after playing the entire month of February on the road.
- Against Portland State in the Littlewood Invitational (Feb. 12), VanBrandt hit for the cycle as part of a 5-for-5 day where she also totaled two home runs.
- Indiana led the nation in three statistical categories in 2025: batting average (.365), doubles per game (2.13) and on base percentage (.454).
LAST TIME OUT:
- Madalyn Strader hit her first career home run on Sunday (March 8) as part of a fifth inning rally to defeat Minnesota, 6-4, and to secure the series victory.
- VanBrandt's 3-home run game against Loyola Chicago marked her third multi-home run game of the season so far to give her nine total and make her the team leader in homers.
- Ella Troutt picked up both a win and a save in the weekend series against Minnesota. In her entire weekend performance, she only allowed four hits and no runs in 8.0 innings pitched. That includes a complete game shutout to defeat Minnesota on Saturday (March 7), 5-0.
- The Hoosiers have four batters who are hitting at or above .400: Aly VanBrandt (.494), Cassidy Kettleman (.435), Avery Parker (.422) and Alex Cooper (.400).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Rutgers enters the weekend series with Indiana holding a 13-10 record and is 2-1 in the Big Ten. Most recently, the Scarlet Knights won a doubleheader at Saint Peter's in New Jersey, winning both games by 8-plus runs.
- Prior to that, Rutgers went to Maryland and took two of three games in College Park, Md. to win its opening Big Ten series of the season.
- The Scarlet Knights have yet to play a home game this season but will do so on Wednesday (March 18) with a doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson before hosting a three-game series with UCLA.
- Rutgers has three players hitting over .400 at the plate, including: Etta Garofalo (.417), Riley Hwang (.414) and Charleigh Schuettler (.400). In the circle, Kelsey Hoekstra has a 3-2 record with a 1.66 ERA and 48 strikeouts.
- Last season, Rutgers went 20-36 and did not qualify for the Big Ten Tournament in 2025.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Indiana leads the all-time series over Rutgers, 19-11, and has won nine games in a row over the Scarlet Knights, dating back to 2021. This weekend series marks the first since 2023 when Indiana earned the sweep in Piscataway.
