Hoosiers Drop Home Match to No. 5 Buckeyes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The No. 62 Indiana men's tennis team fell to the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday in Bloomington. The Hoosiers are now 7-7 on the season, while the Buckeyes improve to 16-3.
In Indiana's first outdoor match of the spring season, the Hoosiers claimed the doubles point by defeating two top-30 teams. At No. 1 doubles, the No. 62 duo of Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu defeated the No. 1-ranked doubles team of Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Sam Landau and Braeden Gelletich secured the point for the Hoosiers by defeating the No. 28 team of Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima.
In singles, the Buckeyes secured the match by winning at positions No. 1 through 4, with all four Ohio State winners ranked in the top 100 in singles by the ITA. Braeden Gelletich and Aidan Atwood, at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, had their matches abandoned after each forced a third set.
Indiana returns home Sunday, Mar. 22, at noon to face Penn State.
