Indiana Softball to Host Purdue in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana Softball will continue its five-game home stand with a three-game series against rival Purdue this weekend (April 10-12) at Andy Mohr Field.
The Hoosiers come into the weekend at 28-10 and a 7-5 conference mark while Purdue is 26-12 and 6-6 in the Big Ten.

- The Hoosiers' prolific offense ranks top-15 nationally in a number of statistical categories: No. 14 (.356), No. 6 On Base Percentage (.464), No. 10 RBI (287), No. 8 Scoring (8.39), No. 9 Total Runs (319), No. 7 Stolen Bases (91), No. 4 Triples (19).
- Avery Parker's walk-off home run to seal a 9-0 run rule win over Butler on Wednesday tied the program's career record of 45. She leads the Hoosiers with 11 homers. Aly VanBrandt (10) and Josie Bird (9) follow from there.
- Against Portland State in the Littlewood Invitational (Feb. 12), VanBrandt hit for the cycle as part of a 5-for-5 day where she also totaled two home runs.
- Indiana is 9-3 in games played at Andy Mohr Field this season and it has won its last three on its home field.
- Of Indiana's 28 wins this year, 16 of them have been by run rule.
LAST TIME OUT:
- Indiana comes into this weekend looking to continue their winning ways. The Hoosiers snapped a three-game losing skid after the series sweep at No. 9 UCLA with a 9-0 run rule victory against Butler on Wednesday.
- In that win over Butler, Hannah Haberstroh and Avery Parker both homered and the Hoosiers kept the Bulldogs to just three hits on the day.
- While IU did not pick up any wins at UCLA, the Hoosiers played the Bruins tough, with each game being close or within striking distance down the stretch.
- In Friday's 5-4 loss, Indiana led 3-2 entering the sixth inning before UCLA pulled ahead in the bottom of the frame. Indiana scored one run in the seventh to put it at 5-4, but could not counter anymore.
- For the weekend, Indiana's pitching was impressive, keeping the Bruins' potent offense at bay and limiting any damage from the bats.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Purdue enters the weekend with a 26-12 record and a 6-6 mark in conference play. The Boilermakers were slated to play UIC in a midweek matchup before this weekend, but it was postponed.
- In conference play, Purdue swept Ohio State in West Lafayette, and won one game in each of their series versus No. 18 Oregon (home), Michigan (road) and Wisconsin (home).
- Moriah Polar leads the team and the Big Ten in batting average, hitting .611 at the plate with 77 hits, including 11 doubles, three triples and three home runs.
- Khloe Banks (.398), Anna Moore (.386) and Ashlynn Campbell (.341) are also top hitters for the Boilers to help make up for a team batting average of .327.
- In the circle, Julia Gossett is the Boilermakers' top arm, holding a 10-6 record with a 2.68 ERA and 121 strikeouts. She is holding opposing hitters to a .196 batting average.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Indiana leads the all time series against Purdue, 46-43, and has won 10 of the last 12 matchups dating back to 2021. In last year's series, Indiana won it in West Lafayette, 2-1.
