IU falls to No. 35 Wisconsin

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– No. 64 ranked Indiana Men's Tennis dropped a 4-0 decision on Friday afternoon against No. 35 Wisconsin (15-5, 6-4 B1G) on Friday afternoon at the IU Outdoor Tennis Center.
Wisconsin got the early lead after securing the doubles point with wins at courts No.1 and No.3. Sam Landau and Braeden Gellitch started it off with a win at doubles No.2 (6-2). At No.3 doubles, Matthew Fullerton and Patrik Meszaros pushed past the Hoosiers to take the match (6-4). Facundo Yunis and Jip Van Assendelft were able to take doubles No.1 to a tie breaker set which ultimately went in favor of Wisconsin (7-6).
In singles play, IU was unable to claw back after dropping the doubles point. Wisconsin clinched courts No. 1, 4 and 5 to secure the contest. At court No. 1, Van Assendelft forced both sets to tie breaker points where he fell 7-6, 7-6 in both decisions (7-6 (6-3), 7-6 (6-3)). At court five, Aryan Badlani took his second set to a tie breaker set, falling 6-3, 7-6 overall against Kumar of Wisconsin.
Yunis, Gellitch and Karan Raghavendra all found momentum in the second set to continue play before their matches were abandoned.
Indiana is 9-10 overall and 3-7 in B1G play. It will stay at home for a Sunday senior day match against No.58 ranked Nebraska.
