Aird, Hoosiers Set for Exhibition with Notre Dame

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 2026 version of the Indiana volleyball team will take the court at Wilkinson Hall on Friday (Aug. 14) evening for an exhibition against Notre Dame. It's the first time under the leadership of head coach Steve Aird that his squad will play a fall tuneup against an outside opponent. IU will also play an intersquad scrimmage next Friday (Aug. 21) for the general public.
The two sides are set to play a traditional best-of-five match as the countdown to the regular season winds down. Aird and Notre Dame head coach Salima Rockwell have known each other for over 20 years, dating back to their time on staff together at Penn State under legendary coach Russ Rose. This match will allow the respective lineups to play in a competitive setting for the first time this fall.
IU played six matches during its foreign tour over the summer, winning each of the 24 sets the team contested. Fifth-year senior middle blocker Kiki Granberry returned to action during the tour and offered a glimpse of versatility for the Hoosiers this year. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager and second-year setter Teodora Krickovic were both All-Big Ten preseason team selections.
Friday's match will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets can be bought online at iuhoosiers.com or at the door at Wilkinson Hall. The match will not be streamed online as each teams works different players through their lineups. IU's regular season begins with a match at No. 7 Louisville on Friday, August 28th.
