Fall Camp Closes with Cream and Crimson Scrimmage

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Fall camp will come to a close on Friday (Aug. 21) evening as the Indiana volleyball team plays its final exhibition of the year. Head coach Steve Aird will split his team into two sides for the annual Cream and Crimson scrimmage at Wilkinson Hall. The teams will play two sets to 25 and one to 15.
IU opened the doors to its home arena for the first time this season with a 3-1 exhibition victory over Notre Dame last Friday (Aug. 14) evening. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager picked up right where she left off with 17 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Fifth-year senior middle blocker Kiki Granberry had 10 kills in three sets.
Friday's scrimmage will closely resemble a normal match setting for the Hoosiers. Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic will play on one side while third-year setter Sade Ilawole and fourth-year setter Luca Fickell share duties on the other side. The rest of IU's squad will be split among the two teams with practice players filling in any gaps.
The Hoosiers are set to open the regular season in one week with a road contest at No. 7 Louisville on Friday, August 28th. Three of IU's first four matches of the season will come against top-25 opposition from the ACC or SEC. IU's regular season home opener will come on Thursday, September 10th against Cal Poly.
