BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer looks to get back on track as they return home to face Saint Louis. The Hoosiers will host the Billikens on Sunday, August 30th from Bill Armstrong Stadium starting at 1 pm.
The Hoosiers return to Bloomington, Ind. looking to get back into the win column after a close defeat to Xavier.
ABOUT THE COACHES
ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
Katie Shields leads Saint Louis in her 14th season with the program, looking to face the Hoosiers for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Billikens return come to Bloomington coming off their first draw of the season, tying 1-1 at Illinois. They currently hold a 2-1-1 record with wins against Lindenwood and at Missouri.
Last Time Out
The Hoosiers return home after playing their first road contest at Xavier last Wednesday.
Xavier scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute of action to take the early 1-0 lead.
The Musketeers followed in the 17th minute with a second goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half started in Xavier's favor, adding a third goal in the 56th minute of play to take a 3-0 lead.
The Hoosiers continued to fight, scoring their first goal on the match in the 88th minute. Midfielder Maggie Ledwith cleaned up the pass in the box from forward Amaya Falzarano to make it a 3-1 contest.
Ledwith would later find midfielder Kennedy Neighbors for a second goal in a two minute span. but with only second remaining, there was not enough time for the Hoosiers to even the game back up.
HOOSIER STATS
Bella Haggerty, Ledwith, and Neighbors tie as the leading goal scorers, tallying two apiece through the first four matches. Aleyna Quinn and Piper Coffield follow each scoring one goal.
Ledwith and Neighbors lead the Hoosiers in total points with six and five, respectively. Haggerty follows behind with four along with Quinn and Coffield who has two each. Jenna Chatterton, Emma Ehret, Amaya Falzarano, Grace Hamm, and Ella Stanley also have one point apiece for the Hoosiers.
17 Hoosiers have recorded a shot this season. Ledwith leads the way with 14 shot attempts, followed by Neighbors and Hamm with eight each. Coffield, Quinn, Chatterton, and Stanley have added four shots apiece, with Haggerty, Murphy and Fishel each recording three.
UP NEXT
IUWS will play their first of back-to-back road matches to open September play. They first will travel to Athen, Ohio to face the University of Ohio to close the nonconference schedule. The match is set to start at 1 pm on Sunday, September 6th.
