BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Unbeaten, No. 2-ranked Indiana men's soccer (7-0-1, 2-0-0 B1G) became the first team to shut out No. 16 Washington (4-3-1, 1-1-0 B1G) this season with a 1-0 victory Friday (Sept. 18) night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

IU earned three points towards the Big Ten table in its conference home opener, following up last week's 1-0 road victory at Michigan with a similar performance. Easton Bogard's 16th-minute header made the difference, as Hoosier goalkeeper Michal Mroz recorded a season-high eight saves to keep the Huskies out of goal. Washington came into the match with a Big Ten-leading 3.1 goals per game but couldn't break through an Indiana team that earned its fifth clean sheet in eight matches.

KEY MOMENTS
• 16' – GOAL! Indiana took control of the match as it reached double-digit minutes, and the game rewarded the Hoosiers for their early pressure. Stephane Njike took on a defender at the corner of the box from the left wing, beat him to the end-line and threw up an inswinging cross. The ball carried past the Husky goalkeeper and found Bogard rising at the six-yard box, giving him an easy header into an open goal. Indiana 1, Washington 0
• 28' – The Hoosiers had a great chance to make it two as Njike had a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper from a turnover in the final third. As the keeper rushed him, Njike tried to chip but got under it and put it over the crossbar.
• 32' – Mroz was called into action minutes later as Washington's Alex Hall crossed to Wyatt Lewis waiting around the six-yard box. Lewis got his head on it and bounced it into the turf, but Mroz got a hand on it and pushed it away to an offside Husky, killing the sequence.
• 82' – Washington had perhaps its best chance with eight minutes to play as midfielder Wyatt Lewis dribbled from the top of the box, past an Indiana defender on the left side and shot with the outside of his right foot. His shot cleared Mroz but trickled just wide of the back post.

NOTABLES
• Indiana earned its fifth clean sheet in eight matches, matching its total from last season (19 games). The 2026 Hoosiers have held opponents to three goals (0.38 goals against average) and have not conceded multiple goals in any match.
• IU held the Big Ten's leading goalscorer, Washington forward Zach Ramsey (11 goals), to two shots – zero on target.
• Indiana improved to 6-0-0 at Armstrong Stadium this season while earning its fourth clean sheet at home.
• Head coach Todd Yeagley earned his 62nd ranked victory, improving to 62-39-20 against Top 25 opponents in his career. The result also marked his first victory against Washington as a head coach, and the program's first win over the Huskies since 2001. IU improved to 5-3-1 in the all-time series.
• Mroz's season-high eight saves marked his most since making 10 for Evansville in a 1-0 victory over NIU last season (Oct. 25, 2025). It also marked the most saves by an IU goalkeeper since Holden Brown made 10 in last season's 3-0 defeat at Washington (Oct. 3, 2025).
• Bogard's four goals this season marks a career-high for the third-year Hoosier, who recorded three goals in 19 appearances last year.
• Njike has recorded a goal or assist in three consecutive matches, contributing to the winning goal in all three matches.

UP NEXT
Indiana continues Big Ten play next week with two matches. The Hoosiers will play at Wisconsin on Tuesday (Sept. 22) before hosting Penn State Friday (Sept. 25) afternoon.
