BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team (9-2, 2-0 Big Ten) ran off seven-straight victories to close out an outstanding month of September. That includes a pair of sweeps over UCLA and Maryland to begin the league campaign 2-0 for the second-straight year. The month of October will kick things up a notch as head coach Steve Aird takes his team on the road for seven of 10 contests over the next five weeks.
A balanced offense has been the key to IU's successful start to the 2026 campaign. All five of IU's most commonly used primary attackers (Jager, Boersema, Granberry, Snowbarger and Gray) are averaging at least 1.83 kills per set this year. Fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum (3.00 kps) and third-year opposite hitter Avery Daum (1.50 kps) have each made spot starts with no drop off.
Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic is at the center of the whole operation. She's top five in the Big Ten in both assists per set (10.79) and aces per set (0.49). The Hoosiers are third in the conference in team hitting percentage (.297) among games in Big Ten play only. The Serbian is closing in on becoming the 12th player in program history to reach the 2,000-assist threshold.
IU will face its stiffest test of the season on Thursday (Oct. 1) evening as it visits Madison to face top-10 Wisconsin in a primetime matchup on the Big Ten Network. Chris Vosters (PxP) and Camryn Irwin (Color) will have the call as the Hoosiers try and break a 19-match losing streak to the Badgers. First serve is set for 9 p.m. ET from UW Field House.

STARTING HOT: For the first time in over 35 years, the Hoosiers have started 2-0 in Big Ten play in consecutive seasons. IU picked up wins over UCLA and Maryland last week to start the conference campaign. Head coach Steve Aird's group opened 2025 at 5-0 in league play before suffering the first setback.
GET HER GOING: Over the past two seasons, second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager has been a catalyst in the offense. When she records at least 15 kills, the Hoosiers are 12-0 in those 12 games. ALL OVER: Third-year Ella Boersema has been IU's most versatile player this season. She has six matches with double-digit kills including 21 combined in wins over UCLA and Maryland. Boersema has done that while playing as an opposite hitter (4) and a middle blocker (2). She's hitting a team-best .368 on the year.
PICKING UP: After a tough season opener at Louisville, IU's offense hit at a combined .285 clip in the month of September. The Hoosiers went 9-1 in those matches and hit above .330 on five different occasions. IU heads into the weekend's action having hit .350 or better in four of the last six games.
END THE STREAK: IU will have the chance to end a pair of long losing streaks over the next few weeks. The Hoosiers have lost 19-straight matches against Wisconsin, the second-longest active streak against any Big Ten program for IU. The Hoosiers ended a long run to Penn State last year and will look to do the same in Madison.
ALL INVOLVED: Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic is closing in on becoming the 12th player in program history to reach 2,000 career assists. She's less than 400 away as she continues to set the Hoosiers at an elite offensive rate. The Serbian is averaging 10.74 assists per set in her career at IU.

The daughter of Wisconsin head football coach Luke Fickell has a pair of brothers on the Badger football team and got to visit Madison on September 12th for the team's win over Western Illinois.
BIG BLOCK: Fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry has stepped her game up in the last weeks. She enters the week eighth in the Big Ten in blocks per set (1.26). Granberry has her hitting percentage climbing to .299 and is producing a career high 2.79 points per set.

• The Badgers have battled through injuries and a gauntlet of a schedule to begin the Big Ten campaign at 2-0 with top-25 wins over Oregon and Purdue. With the addition of freshman opposite hitter Decelise Champion, Wisconsin has finally settled into a starting lineup.
• The show starts and ends with junior setter Charlie Fuerbringer. She is averaging 11.29 assists per set and 2.14 digs per set. She returned from injury in last year's contest against IU as Wisconsin got fully back into rhythm enroute to an appearance in the national semifinals.
• With Champion on the right side, freshman outside hitter Audrey Flanagan (3.15 kills per set) and senior outside hitter Eva Travis (2.98 kills per set) have gotten more comfortable hitting from the left. Freshman middle blocker Lynney Tarnow is hitting at nearly a .400 clip.
