
Indiana Opens Big Ten Play With Two Home Games

The Hoosiers will face Iowa and Northwestern at home this weekend
Most recently, Indiana triumphed in a 4-2 win over Ball State, a game in which the Hoosiers earned an astounding 13 penalty corners and saw scores from four different attackers. The Hoosiers will look for a strong start to the Big Ten schedule, aiming to outdo their 1-7 conference record from the 2014 season.

Hoosiers Home Stand
Indiana plays continue their five-game home stretch on Friday, September 25 against Iowa and Sunday, September 27 against Northwestern. These games are Indiana's first against Big Ten competition this season, and both will be available online via BTN Plus.
A New Season, A New Era
Indiana Field Hockey welcomes three new coaches to the Hoosier family. Head coach Amanda Janney enters her first season as the head coach of the Hoosiers. She is joined by first-year coaches Kelly Terwilliger and Ayla Halus. The Hoosiers return 13 letterwinners from their 2014 campaign, including 2015 Preseason All-Big Ten selections Kate Barber, Karen Lorite, and Nicole Volgraf.
Beating Ball State
In recent action, Indiana emerged with a 4-2 win over the Ball State Cardinals on Friday, September 18 in Bloomington. Indiana earned 13 penalty corners in the game, an outstanding mark after earning 22 combined corners in their previous six contests. Kate Barber, Maddie Latino, Abby Urbanek, and Karen Lorite were Indiana's goalscorers in the win.
Big Ten Beginnings
Indiana opens their Big Ten Conference schedule against the #16 Iowa Hawkeyes, their third ranked opponent this season. Iowa are 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play, boasting wins over #11 Wake Forest and Big Ten foe Rutgers. Key players for the Hawkeyes include junior forward Stephanie Norlander and freshman midfielder Makenna Grewe, the top two points leaders in the Big Ten Conference.
Casing the 'Cats
Indiana concludes the weekend with a game against the #14 Wildcats of Northwestern University. The 2014 Big Ten Champions who are off to a strong 7-3 start. They've posted wins over #13 Boston College and Temple, and all three losses came against ranked competition: #1 UConn, #5 Duke, and #10 Maryland. On defense, the Hoosiers will key on junior mideiflders Isabel Flens and Dominque Masters, who have combined for 17 goals and seven assists this season. On the attack, Indiana will face Lindsay von der Luft, one of the top goalkeepers in the Big Ten (1.4 GaAvg).

- Four seniors are playing in their final season for the Cream and Crimson - Karen Lorite, Rachel Stauffer, Sydney Supica, and Nicole Volgraf.
- Kate Barber, Karen Lorite and Nicole Volgraf were named to the 2015 Big Ten Players to Watch List.
- Indiana goalkeeper Noëlle Rother ranks third in the Big Ten Conference in saves per game (4.14).
- Senior Karen Lorite leads all Hoosiers in scoring this season. The former defender has four goals to her name through the first seven games, accounting for 25% of Indiana's season goal total.
- Sophomore Maddie Latino ranks fourth in the conference in game-winning goals this season (2).
- Hoosier junior Malia Fujisawa recorded two defensive saves against Pacific. The defender leads the Big Ten in single-game and season defensive saves.
Following this weekend, the Hoosiers will play their final home game before hitting the road again, a non-conference matchup against Kent State University on Friday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET at the IU Field Hockey Complex.
