Sunday’s Senior Day game brings Penn State to the Hoosiers’ home turf
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - It's hard to believe, but Indiana's field hockey team arrives at their final weekend of the 2017 regular season. It's another Big Ten double weekend, the second of the year, as Indiana faces a pair of top-25 opponents with the Big Ten Tournament looming on the horizon.
It begins on Friday in Columbus, where the Hoosiers look to see if they can preserve the visitor's streak in the Hoosiers-Buckeyes series. Sunday brings a bittersweet conclusion to Indiana's senior class, who play their final career home game when the Hoosiers host No. 6 Penn State. Sunday's game will stream live via BTN Plus on BTN2Go.com.

Corner Hits
Hard-fought Homecoming
The Hoosiers entered a pair of Big Ten battles last weekend on the home turf, giving a valiant effort but ultimately falling to No. 3 Michigan and Michigan State. Indiana stayed within striking distance for most of their game against the Wolverines but fell victim to the Big Ten's leading defense. Sunday's game versus the Spartans went back-and-forth, with Michigan State taking the lead on two quick goals late in the second half.
Keeping Options Open
The Hoosiers have found creative output from several sources over the last two weeks, as seven different players entered the scoring ledger over six games. Kelsey Giese leads the offensive effort in that span with six points in IU's last five games.
Bring on the Buckeyes
Indiana and Ohio State collide once again for what's certain to be a hard-fought contest at Buckeye Varsity Field. Ohio State leads the series, 12-6, but the last four games have flipped winners.
Interestingly enough, the away team has won the last five meetings in this Big Ten series, and the Hoosiers won their last game in Columbus, 3-0. If Indiana wins, it would be their first Big Ten road win since last year's victory at No. 12 Michigan (10/14/16).
Playing Penn State
The Hoosiers will once again conclude their regular season against the Nittany Lions after doing so last year in State College. Penn State leads the all-time series, 18-4, and they've won the last three encounters with two occurring in the postseason. IU won the last regular season game at home in Amanda Janney's first season, 1-0, with a goal just before halftime.
A Class Above
Indiana will wave farewell to Indiana's six seniors as they celebrate their final career game at the IU Field Hockey Complex: Cameron Gibson, Elle Hempt, Katie Johnson, Maddie Latino, Taylor Pearson, and Abby Urbanek. The group has combined for 138 starts, 40 goals, 29 assists, and 109 points.
Worth Noting...
• Maddie Latino (9 – 7th) and Ciara Girouard (7 – 15th) rank top-15 in scoring amongst the Big Ten. Latino has four game-winning goals this season (t-2nd, Big Ten).
• This marks the second consecutive weekend where the Hoosiers play two top-25 opponents in one weekend. After Sunday's game, that four-game run against ranked opponents will be the longest of the season for Indiana.
• The Hoosiers will honor their senior class with a pregame ceremony and posters that will adorn the entryway to the IU Field Hockey Complex.
• Next: Indiana awaits their seeding for the newly-formatted Big Ten Tournament, set to open at campus sites for the first weekend.
