10/1/2021 8:03:00 PM | Field Hockey
University Park, PA. – The Indiana Field Hockey battled the entire night but didn't have enough left as it dropped a closely-contested match to Penn State on Friday evening.
The setback drops the Hoosiers to 6-5 (0-3) while Penn State moves to 7-2 (2-1) on the season.
KEY MOMENTS
• Penn State got into a groove early, forcing a corner in the fifth minute of the match. Freshman goalie Arabella Loveridge was equal to an early shot and kept the Nittany Lions off the board early.
• Sophomore forward Meghan Dillon made a great defensive play on a penalty corner to disrupt the ball and allow IU to regroup in the first period.
• Junior midfielder Kennedy Reardon opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a goal straight off the training ground. Freshman defender Yip van Wonderen inserted the corner and redshirt sophomore defender Sydney Keld dumped it off to Reardon who put it in the back of the goal.
• Penn State responded late in the second period. Sophia Gladieux grabbed the deflected shot and buried it in the back of the net to level the score.
• IU withstood several chances in the third period to keep the score at 1-1 heading into the fourth.
• Penn State grabbed three goals late in the match to secure the victory.

• Loveridge made eight saves while facing 22 shots on the evening.
