Indiana Pulls Off Road Upset of No. 16 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Indiana Field Hockey team completed a three-goal turnaround on Friday afternoon to pick up a 3-1 victory over No. 16 Ohio State on the road at the Buckeye Varsity Complex.
With the victory, IU moves to 7-6 (1-4) on the season while 16th-ranked Buckeyes fall to 6-6 (1-3) on the campaign.
KEY MOMENTS
• Ohio State opened the scoring in the fourth minute. After freshman goalie Arabella Loveridge made the initial save, OSU's Cameryn Forgash was there to tap in the opener.
• IU responded quickly at the end of the first period. After winning three straight corners, freshman midfielder Kira Curland slotted one home to bring the game level.
• The second period was a back-and-forth affair but there were no goals, and the two teams went to the break even at a goal apiece.
• Freshman forward Kayla Kiwak had a backhanded goal waved off early in the third period.
• Freshman defender Yip van Wonderen made up for the call by sending her own backhanded shot into the far, right corner of the net to give IU the lead.
• OSU had their own goal waved off after a referee's decision.
• With the goalie pulled, freshman midfielder Maggie Carter slotted home an empty-net goal to give IU an insurance goal.
NOTABLES
• All three goals and both assists were scored by freshmen on the afternoon.
• Loveridge tallied her sixth victory of the season and her first-career conference win.
• Curland's first-period goal was the fifth of the season, extending her team lead for total goals.
