
Kidd Leads No. 11 Indiana To Victory Over Marist

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Skylar Kidd tied her career-high five goals as she helped lead No. 12 Indiana to a 14-7 victory over Marist on Friday at the opener of the Bruno Classic.

KEY MOMENTS
- Indiana (5-0) got out to a quick 2-0 start with goals from Kidd and senior Sophia Sollie. Kidd led the Hoosiers in the opening quarter, putting up two of the Hoosiers three goals in the frame to take a 3-2 lead over the Red Foxes.
- Marist (0-1) immediately tied the game up in the second quarter off the opening sprint and took lead with 534 to play in second quarter. In a back-and-forth affair, Junior Nicole Tyner tied the game back up with a shot in the middle. Marist countered on 6-on-5 opportunity to go back up one, but Kidd would tie the game up at 5-all with 7.6 seconds left on a fast break going on-on-one with goalie.
- The Hoosiers scored three-straight goals to open the third quarter before Marist could get back on the board midway through the frame. A solid defensive effort by IU held the opponent to just one goal in the quarter as Indiana tacked on three more to take an 11-6 lead.
- Scoring continued for Indiana in the fourth, as sophomore Nancy Baylor-Sefchick, senior Grace Hathaway and Sollie all put up goals.
NOTES
- Kidd recorded her fourth hat trick of the year in the win, as she scored four of Indiana's five goals in the first half. She also recorded a team-high three steals and had two assists.
- Seven different players scored in the win with Sollie, Sasser and Klinger all recording multiple goal efforts.
- Indiana improved to 18-1 all-time in the series against the Red Foxes and has won 10-straight.
- Junior goalie Jasmine Higgs racked up 10 saves in the win.
- The Hoosiers assisted on 12 of its 14 goals with a team-high three assists each from seniors Portia Sasser and Olivia Stark.
